IUCN and the Slovakian Presidency of the EU Council are inviting IUCN Members, partners and EU decision makers, and Members of the European Parliament to discuss the main outcomes of the IUCN World Conservation Congress 2016 in Hawai’i by looking at ways to support environmental policy and action in Europe. The texts that resulted from this congress can be instrumental as a framework for relevant debates at the level of the European Union. Moreover, this meeting provides a moment to reflect on how the resolutions from the IUCN Cogress might inform the Conference of the Parties meeting in Cancún, Mexico for the Convention on Biological Diversity, the implementation of the Paris Agreement, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the EU Biodiversity Strategy.
