CETAF to meet in Sweden this week

The 53rd General Assembly of the Consortium of the European Taxonomic Facilities (CETAF53) will be held on the 9th and 10th of May in Gothenburg, Sweden, hosted by two institutions, the Natural History Museum of Gothenburg and the Gothenburg Botanic Garden.This meeting will bring together around 60 representatives from the 41 members of CETAF that represent 74 institutions from 24 European countries and associated states. CETAF53 will be a moment to share the outcomes and achievements of CETAF and its ongoing initiatives or projects. During the two-day event, participants will hear of recent developments within CETAF as well as contributing to the development of a sustainable CETAF Business Plan and the new vision and mission of the organisation. The General Secretariat in Brussels is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its activity and is looking forward taking an even more active role in representing the community and interacting with the policymakers on behalf of the community.It is a very exciting time for CETAF and the CETAF community as we are in an unprecedented position, with DiSSCo entering the transition phase towards becoming a fully operational research infrastructure, the CETAF community project – Transforming European Taxonomy through Training, Research and Innovations (TETTRIS) underway and the CETAF Research Agenda for Natural History Institutions in development –says Michelle Price, Acting President of CETAF, – we’ll be focusing particularly on our advocacy activity towards European institutions and decision-makers to raise awareness on the importance of taxonomy for data-driven policies and as a pillar of biomonitoring activities.”Updates will be posted on Twitter with the hashtag #CETAF53.
