Pensoft launches a new journal to highlight the importance of taxonomy and natural history collections

The publication comes at a crucial moment for taxonomy. The field is experiencing a decrease in resources and a shortage of new professionals, which threatens the future of biodiversity documentation and preservation. NHCM seeks to bridge the gap between traditional taxonomy and modern conservation efforts by facilitating the dissemination of open-access research, making it accessible to a global audience. 

NHCM is receiving strong support from CETAF as Europe’s leading voice for taxonomists. With CETAF’s backing, the journal is set to encourage collaborative efforts across the taxonomic community. The main goal is to ensure taxonomy and natural history collections are integrated into future biodiversity assessments, helping with the preservation not only of well-known species but also those that have been forgotten. 

The new journal already benefits from a distinguished and varied editorial board, which includes two of the authors of the Nature Conservation paper, Franco Andreone and Spartaco Gippoliti.

The publication of this new journal marks an important step towards the better protection and understanding of the planet’s biodiversity.
