    General Description

    • Entomology, Arachnology: The Department of Biodiversity, Ecology and Evolution of the UCM has one of the main existing entomological collections in our country. It has nearly 2,000,000 dry-mounted insect specimens and more than 2,000,000 arthropods preserved in alcohol or mounted in microscope slides. The material comes, above all, from the Iberian Peninsula and Canary Islands and incorporates several historical collections such as the Luís Jiménez de Asúa (1889-1970), of tropical insects, or the Juan Gómez-Menor Ortega homoptera collection (1903-1983 )
