Much has changed in our community in the last decade. CETAF has reached new heights in terms of membership numbers, cooperation and impact. But what has not changed in those ten years is the unique role that CETAF plays. This dates back even further: to the origins of our organisation.
The Consortium of European Taxonomic Facilities (CETAF) started in 1996 as the initiative of 10 natural history institutions. Our founding members shared one conviction: that it takes a strong community to make real advances. This progress was only possible through striving towards common objectives, sparking collaboration and raising awareness of the importance of taxonomic research for science and society.
Nonetheless, the General Secretariat in Brussels was established in 2013. If you are fancy to know more about this fundamental decade in CETAF’s history, you can download our 10 Years publication with a huge factsheet to recall all the achievements of the 2013-2023.
