1. DNA lab
The lab has been equipped with instrumentsable to perform the complete workflow from DNA extraction to sequencing. Various molecular biology technics and data analyses approaches are used in the laboratory.
Users: internal and external researchers working in the fields of taxonomy, systematics, animal and plant ecology, biological conservation.
2. SEM
Users: taxonomy and systematics (both botany and zoology), paleontology, anatomy, archaeobotany
from 2004 more than 34,000 pictures were taken
3. Face reconstruction lab
method: sculpting method;
reconstruction cases: mainly historic anthropological, less forensic cases;
research: morphometry for skull to face correlation;
facilities: sculpting accessories, 3D database for skull and face morphometrics
Users: forensic science, cultural and physical anthropology, archaeology

10 museologists are involved in non-University based adult education programmes. Types of courses and activities: licensed mushroom identification courses, bat ringing examination, bird ringing examination, taxidermy education (participation in the compilation of the training material), cave biology o pest biology
37 members of the scientific staff give lectures and practical courses (2000 hours in 2016) regularly at three universities (by agreement between the museum and the universities) in the following fields: science communication, museology, zoology, botany, anthropology, paleobotany, paleontology, mineralogy. Staff members regularly supervise BSc, MSc and PhD theses
Hungarian Natural History Museum is taking part as a consortium member with RBINS, AEM, UOC, CETAF in building an online course on biodiversity, climate change and issues related to scientific collections. The three years (2016-2019) project named as BIOTALENT is financed by Erasmus+. HNHM is responsible mainly for building up the educational content, and running the course itself with UOC. The platform is going to be built to be useful in the wider field of STEM education.

At least 200 guided tours (including guided tours in the collections), one thousand museum pedagogy programs and a hundred and fifty other museum events The museum has a number of partnership agreements with primary schools to regularly take part in museum education programmes. Special agreement established with a school specialized for teaching students with intellectual disabilities to provide specific education programmes.
