ESOF – EuroScience Open Forum – is the biennial pan-European meeting dedicated to scientific research and innovation.
At ESOF meetings leading scientists, researchers, young researchers, business people, entrepreneurs and innovators, policy makers, science and technology communicators and the general public from all over Europe discuss new discoveries and debate the direction that research is taking in the sciences, humanities and social sciences.
On 28th and 29th of October 2015, all members from European Citizen Science Association (ECSA) as well as supporters and those curious about the organisation, are invited to attend the General Assembly in Barcelona.
"Citizen Science is an expanding field experimenting with alternative models of public knowledge production and democracy. That includes strengthening the scientific research by engaging with a variety of knowledge domains and introducing new perspectives and information as well as new partnerships. Citizens create knowledge – Knowledge creates citizens!"
The EGI Community Forum aims at gathering tool developers, infrastructure providers, data providers and research communities to work together towards open science.
Nowadays, research practice is increasingly - and in many cases exclusively - data driven. Knowledge of how to use tools to manipulate research data, and the availability of e-infrastructures to support them, are fundamental.
The guiding theme of the 45th Annual Meeting is "Ecology for a Sustainable Future". Along the lines of this guiding theme, we will stimulate scientific discussions on basic and applied ecological topics as well as on nature conservation and management.
Special focus will be given to:
The EMBO Meeting is an annual event held in Europe to promote life sciences and the exchange of scientific results.
The meeting enables scientists to peak outside their personal speciality field of research and engage with the international scientific community to explore interdisciplinary approaches to research in the life sciences.
Participants will discover new perspectives on topics covering the entire range of life sciences from molecular and cellular studies to investigation of larger biological systems.
The 2015 annual meeting of the Biodiversity Heritage Library Global Network will be about the state of development of BHL and biodiversity related information systems.
The Linnean Society of London organises an Evening Meeting on Plant Conservation, presented by Timothy Walker.
Opinion No.1 - 44% of all plant species will be extinct when the current cohort of undergraduates is 70 year old
Opinion No.2 – There is no technical reason why any plant species should become extinct
