World Flora Online Meeting, in CJB Geneva

The Conservatory and Botanical Garden of the City of Geneva, Switzerland, hosted the World Flora Online meeting from the 26-30 January 2015.

The World Flora Online, a collaborative, international project, is a response to Target 1 of the CBD’s Global Strategy for Plant Conservation, which states that by 2020 plant diversity should be well understood, documented and recognized. The World Flora Online will build upon existing knowledge and published floras, checklists and revisions to provide the first comprehensive and scientifically valid over-view account of the world’s plant diversity by 2020 (MORE INFO at http://www.worldfloraonline.org/).

The World Flora Online meeting in Geneva, jointly organized by the Conservatory and Botanical Garden of the City of Geneva and Missouri Botanical Garden, St. Louis, USA, facilitated dicussions on the development of the taxonomic and technical elements of the project. The World Flora Online meeting was attended by 26 scientists, IT specialists and Directors representing 15 of the 24 project partners from 11 countries.
