SPNHC 2016 Berlin
The Museum für Naturkunde (MfN) and the Botanischer Garten und Botanisches Museum Berlin (BMBG) are hosting the 31st Annual Meeting for the Society for the Preservation of Natural History Collections (SPNHC) in Berlin from June, 19 to June, 26, 2016. The meeting will be held in parallel with the 2nd International Conference on Biodiversity Biobanking of the Global Genome Biodiversity Network (GGBN).
The conference theme is “Green Museum – How to practice what we preach?”. Relevant sessions will be held in relation to, among others, the future of collections, preventive conservation, training for next generations of museum professionals and mobilizing data in NHMs. The program can be found here.
In the framework of this Conference, SYNTHESYS3, GBIF, CETAF, iDigBio, and others have worked together to create a series of symposia to foster a unified conversation on global digitization and global data access for biological collections. One of those symposia will be dedicated to “Developing a global research infrastructure framework for bio-collections” (June 24, morning session). You can find the agend for this specific event here.
We would also like to remind you that, among the different workshops organized, there will be once dedicated to “Access and Benefit Sharing” in Natural History Collections – implementation and practical management” (June 25, afternoon session).
