ETHNOPALMES
Botanical Conservatory and Botanic Gardens of the city of Geneva, Switzerland

Under the angle of the ethnobotanics, the science which studies the relationships and practices between the vegetable world and the man, this new exhibition called “Ethnopalmes" approaches such relation via a preferred target of  Ethnologists: the palm trees.

Palm trees have been of preference first for ethnologists, then ethnobotanistes. Their utilitarian, symbolic and civilizing values are big. The exhibit will be open until 19 October 2014 at the Botanical Conservatory and Botanic Gardens of the city of Geneva and consists of seven posts arranged in various sectors of the Botanical garden, together with a Cabinet of curiosities.

Playful and didactic in its realization, “Ethnopalmes" exhibition gathers rich objects and iconographies. They allow the visitor to appreciate several uses of this symbolic family of trees of  big economic importance for our planet.

Set the alarm on your calendar and join Ethnopalmes before 19 October 2014 at the Botanical Conservatory and Botanic Gardens of the city of Geneva, Switzerland
